The Bocas Crossing · Route Planner v0.3

Bocas del Toro route planner

Three formats over Till's proposed waypoints. Pick a format for the route, the distance, the days, the cost, the effort and the main risks. Everything is computed from the coordinates and the rate table below, so a corrected pin changes every number on the page.

Side by side

How to read this. Distances are great-circle lines between waypoints, multiplied by a sinuosity factor of 1.15 to give a planning distance, because no paddled line is straight. Paddling hours assume 3.5 km/h cruising in a loaded sea kayak. Costs are a decomposed rate table at local Bocas prices, not a quote: every line names its basis, and the group-size box redistributes the fixed lines.

What is provisional. Every coordinate on this map was geocoded from a public description, not from a GPS fix. Salt Creek, Cayos Zapatilla and Bocas Town are place-level accurate. Seahorse Point is accurate to Bahía Honda, not to the dock. Popa is a point on the north shore of a 53 km² island. Jinja Island comes from "10 km due south of Bocas Town". Dashed legs are straight lines that a chart will show crossing land. Load the KMZ to replace all of it.
